“Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade Comes Back to Birmingham”

Birmingham’s St. Patrick’s Day parade is back in the city center after a five-year hiatus, marking its 50th anniversary. The parade, which originally began in 1952, had been put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic and roadworks in Digbeth.

Expected to draw hundreds of attendees, the event will feature Irish dancing, sports, and other activities. It will also pay tribute to the late Shane McGowan of The Pogues. Rory Murray, a member of the festival committee, emphasized that the celebration is open to everyone, with music, food, and a welcoming atmosphere for all generations to enjoy.
