Announcement of curatorial framework and artist lineup for Sharjah Biennial 16
Sharjah Art Foundation recently unveiled the initial selection of artists set to participate in the sixteenth edition of the Sharjah Biennial (SB16). The event is scheduled to take place from 6 February to 15 June 2025, spanning multiple venues in Sharjah City, Al Hamriyah, Al Dhaid, Kalba, and other locations throughout the Emirate of Sharjah.
The exhibition will be curated by a collective of five individuals, including Alia Swastika, Amal Khalaf, Megan Tamati-Quennell, Natasha Ginwala, and Zeynep Öz. These curators will explore the concept of home, ancestry, and political affiliations in today’s world. The theme revolves around understanding how individuals navigate their surroundings while carrying these profound ideas.
The initial list of participating artists includes Adelita Husni-Bey, Akinbode Akinbiyi, Akira Ikezoe, and many more. The comprehensive lineup of artists will be disclosed in the following months as the event draws closer. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting showcase of talent.
