Emirates Achieves Certified Autism Center™ Designation for Dubai Check-In Facilities

Dubai, April 1, 2024 – Emirates has recently been awarded the Certified Autism Center™ Designation for all four of its Dubai Check-In facilities, including Emirates City Check-in & Travel Store in DIFC, Emirates Cruise Check-In at Port Rashid and Dubai Harbour, Emirates City Check-In in Ajman, and the dedicated hub in Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport (DXB). This certification signifies Emirates’ commitment to making travel more inclusive and accessible for neurodiverse customers.

The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) awarded this certification after thorough training of Emirates employees on autism and sensory awareness. These employees are now equipped to address the needs of autistic travelers and those with sensory sensitivities, along with their families. In addition, comprehensive facilities audits were conducted to create sensory guides that help travelers make informed decisions based on their preferences and needs.

This achievement aligns with Dubai’s vision of becoming the first Certified Autism Destination™ (CAD) in the Middle East and complements the recent recognition of Dubai International Airport as the first international airport to earn the designation from IBCCES. Emirates’ City Check-Ins provide a seamless pre-airport experience with various check-in options, ensuring a stress-free journey for all passengers.

Mohammed H. Mattar, Emirates DSVP Airport Services, emphasized that Emirates is dedicated to providing a seamless travel experience for everyone. By partnering with Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism and IBCCES, Emirates aims to make travel more accessible and inclusive for all customers, especially those with autism and sensory sensitivities.

Myron Pincomb, Chairman of IBCCES, praised Emirates for its commitment to exceptional guest service and making the check-in process more accommodating for individuals with sensory challenges. Collaborative efforts between Emirates, Department of Economy and Tourism, and Dubai Airports are paving the way for a more inclusive travel experience in Dubai.

With a focus on inclusivity, Emirates’ certification as a Certified Autism Center™ Designation highlights its dedication to improving the travel experience for all passengers. Through partnerships and initiatives, Dubai is cementing its position as a leading destination for travelers with diverse needs.
