‘Al Hefaiyah Lake in Kalba Officially Opened by Ruler of Sharjah’

Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, along with other esteemed guests, officially opened the Al Hefaiyah Lake in Kalba over the weekend. This newly inaugurated lake, also known as Kalba Lake, boasts a strategic water reservoir encompassed by a scenic 3.17km dual-lane road, providing tourists with breathtaking views of the surroundings. Situated near the Al Hiyar Tunnel along the Sharjah-Kalba Road, this infrastructure project not only serves as a water source but also aims to enhance the natural beauty of the area.

With a capacity of 155 million gallons, Al Hefaiyah Lake covers 132,000 square meters and reaches a depth of up to four meters. Advanced technology and construction materials have been utilized to ensure the lake is suitable for the hilly environment it is situated in. The site features various components such as a water conduit, surplus water storage systems, rainwater collection mechanisms, and valley runoff management systems. Additionally, barriers and filters have been installed to maintain the water quality by preventing contaminants and sedimentation.

Al Hefaiyah Lake is accompanied by 11.7km of mountain trails catering to hiking enthusiasts, as well as a shaded play area for children equipped with rubber flooring for recreational activities. The highlight of the inauguration was the Al Hefaiyah Mosque, which can accommodate up to 495 worshippers and is designed in the Fatimid style, adding a spiritual element to the landscape.

During the ceremony, a drone show was presented to express Kalba’s appreciation to the Sharjah Ruler for his dedication to development efforts. The visuals showcased local attractions alongside the message “Thank you, Sultan.” The project also includes the Al Hefaiyah Rest House, providing visitors with a panoramic view of the lake and mountains, complete with dining options. This initiative represents a significant step towards harmonizing urban development with environmental conservation and recreational amenities in Sharjah.
