Acquisition of United Grocery Outlet Completed by Grocery Outlet

Grocery Outlet Holdings Corp. has successfully finalized its acquisition of United Grocery Outlet, a well-known discount grocery retailer with operations across the Southeastern United States. This acquisition, completed from affiliates of Gen Cap America, Inc. and current and former UGO management, includes 40 stores and a distribution center.

By acquiring UGO, Grocery Outlet expands its reach into new territories including Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, and Virginia. The company’s president and CEO, RJ Sheedy, expressed excitement about the deal, stating, “We are thrilled to have completed this transaction and to establish a presence in the Southeast. These stores have a proven track record of success and will provide us with immediate scale and a platform for further expansion in this region. The synergy between our buying strategies, customer value propositions, and community-focused missions make this acquisition a natural fit for our business.”

This strategic move aligns with Grocery Outlet’s goal of growth and diversification, further solidifying its position as a major player in the competitive grocery retail market.
