He explained the significance of their chosen location: “We selected the summit of Mount Wa’ab Al Haif, located near the Al Wa’ab area, a place where our ancestors once cultivated wheat. The vantage point offers a panoramic view of the Shaam and Al Jeer areas, a reminder of our roots and the beauty of our homeland.” The deliberate choice of this site underscores a deep connection to the land and a respect for the history that has shaped their cultural identity.
This project was not without its challenges. Over the course of an intensive week, Al Shehhi and his team—Salem Abdullah Al Shehhi, Saeed Nouba Al Shehhi, Khalid Mohammed Al Shehhi, and Zawad Al Shehhi—worked tirelessly to erect a 60-meter mast capable of supporting a flag measuring 10 by 4 meters. “We have made it a tradition to either raise the flag or paint it on the summit of various mountains each year,” said Al Shehhi. “However, this year we decided to leave a more permanent symbol of our pride through the construction of a mast that is visible for all in the vicinity to see.” The significance of their actions transcends mere symbolism; it serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of unity and collective pride among the Emirati youth.
