Ajman Municipality launches street improvement projects totaling Dh170 million
In an effort to improve the infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for residents in Ajman, the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department has initiated two major projects to upgrade three key streets within the Emirate. With a total investment of Dh170 million, these projects aim to boost capacity and elevate service standards, ultimately contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
The first project focuses on the development of Salam Street and Sheikh Zayed Street. Salam Street will be expanded from Al Mowaihat Roundabout to Ajman Ring Road, adding three lanes in each direction. The intersections along the street will also be widened to three lanes, and the addition of service roads and parking facilities will help improve traffic flow in the Ajman Industrial area and Mowaihat area. With an estimated cost of Dh48 million and a timeline of 13 months, this project will also include the installation of lighting and stormwater drainage systems to enhance emergency preparedness.
Moving on to the second project, Sheikh Zayed Street in the Al Helio area will undergo expansion over a three-kilometre stretch, from its intersection with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to its intersection with Ajman Border Road. This Dh53 million project, scheduled to be completed in 12 months, will involve the installation of traffic lights at intersections, the creation of U-turns under bridges, and the implementation of lighting and stormwater drainage networks to improve traffic flow and accessibility to various destinations in the area.
Furthermore, the first phase of the development of Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street will cost Dh69 million. This phase will include the construction of a 500-meter bridge with three traffic lanes to connect the Port of Ajman and the city center to Sheikh Khalifa Intersection. The project aims to align with Ajman’s strategic infrastructure plan, which emphasizes the development of a system designed to meet global standards. Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street is a vital thoroughfare in the Emirate, experiencing heavy traffic throughout the day. The 14-month project will also involve the construction of service roads, modifications to parking arrangements, and the addition of traffic light intersections with U-turns under bridges.
These projects underscore the Municipality’s dedication to creating a well-connected and prosperous Ajman, where residents and visitors can enjoy smoother travel experiences. By enhancing the Emirate’s infrastructure and connectivity with existing and future developments, these projects are set to make a significant impact on the overall development and growth of Ajman.
The initiatives taken by the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department are part of a larger strategy to enhance the Emirate’s urban landscape and improve the quality of life for its residents. By investing in key infrastructure projects, Ajman is positioning itself as a modern and forward-thinking city that prioritizes the well-being of its residents and the efficiency of its transportation system.
By focusing on the development of key streets like Salam Street, Sheikh Zayed Street, and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street, Ajman is not only improving traffic flow and accessibility but also creating a more vibrant and sustainable urban environment. These projects will not only benefit residents by providing better connectivity and transportation options but will also attract businesses and investors looking for well-planned and well-connected cities to establish their presence.
In conclusion, the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department’s commitment to enhancing the Emirate’s infrastructure through these major projects is a testament to its dedication to creating a more livable and sustainable city for residents and visitors alike. With a clear focus on improving capacity and service standards, these projects are set to have a lasting impact on Ajman’s urban landscape and overall development.
