Upcoming Arrival of Flying Taxis, Autonomous Cars, and Seagliders in Abu Dhabi

DRIFTx Abu Dhabi concluded with the signing of 12 strategic agreements aimed at advancing future mobility solutions and bringing them closer to operational launch. The event marked the UAE’s first operational vertiport for vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOLs) and attracted over 8,000 visitors from more than 25 countries, surpassing expected numbers.

With more than 75 global exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge air, land, and sea mobility technologies, DRIFTx served as an international platform for smart, autonomous, and sustainable urban mobility applications. The event facilitated discussions among 80 local and international experts to showcase Abu Dhabi’s urban mobility strategy and map the latest global mobility trends.

Key collaborations announced at DRIFTx included partnerships between the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and companies like Archer Aviation and REGENT Craft to accelerate air taxi and seaglider operations in the UAE. Other agreements involved Joby Aviation, Multi Level Group, and FEST Auto Global Holding Ltd, demonstrating a commitment to driving innovation in sustainable urban mobility.

DRIFTx also featured product unveilings and attracted international mobility entities to the UAE for the first time. The event showcased a wide range of autonomous and electric vehicles, including the GMC HUMMER EV Pickup and SUV, May Mobility’s autonomous vehicle solutions, and various drone technologies.

The success of DRIFTx positioned it as the world’s premier gathering for thought leaders and innovators in smart, autonomous, and sustainable mobility solutions. Organizers are already planning the second edition of DRIFTx in the first quarter of 2025, building on the momentum and energy generated during the inaugural event.
