‘400k European tourists visited Sharjah in 2023’

Sharjah experienced a notable surge in European visitors in 2023, with over 400,000 tourists, marking a 28 percent increase from the previous year. This uptick in European tourists contributed to 27 percent of the total number of visitors to Sharjah last year. The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) disclosed this information during their participation in ITB Berlin 2024, the leading global travel trade show held until March 7 under the theme ‘Pioneer the Transition in Travel & Tourism. Together’.

As part of Sharjah’s presence at the event, the emirate is showcasing its comprehensive tourism vision, highlighting its iconic landmarks and unique tourist destinations that have positioned it as a top choice among European travelers. Notably, German tourists rank second in terms of total Western European visitors to Sharjah.

The SCTDA, within the Sharjah Pavilion, has brought together 19 government and private entities from the emirate to showcase a diverse range of tourism, hospitality, cultural, and entertainment establishments and services. This collective effort aims to underscore Sharjah’s array of destinations, offerings, and amenities, solidifying its reputation as a sought-after tourist destination in the region.
