1.8 million passengers traveled with the Norwegian Group in March

In March, Norwegian Airlines welcomed 1,544,289 passengers while Widerøe Airlines had 276,413 passengers, bringing the total for the group to 1,820,702. Norwegian’s load factor saw an increase to 85 percent, up 4 percentage points from the previous year. The airline also boasted a remarkable regularity rate of 99.6 percent in March, with improved on-time performance compared to previous months.

Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian, expressed his satisfaction with the strong traffic figures, attributing the boost in numbers to the early Easter holiday. He commended the efforts of the airline’s staff in ensuring high regularity, especially during the busy vacation season. Karlsen highlighted Norwegian’s reliability, noting that there were zero cancellations for all international flights in March. Looking ahead, the airline is optimistic about the upcoming summer season and has launched a “Spring Sale” campaign to attract more travelers.

In terms of specific figures, Norwegian registered 1,544,289 passengers in March with a capacity of 2,441 million seat kilometers, marking a 4 percent increase from the previous year. The airline operated an average of 73 aircraft with an impressive regularity rate of 99.6 percent and a punctuality rate of 86.7 percent, up 6 percentage points from March 2023.

Moreover, Norwegian’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions was evident in March, with a 10 percent decrease in CO2 emissions per actual passenger kilometer compared to the same period last year. This reduction equates to approximately 250,000 passenger round-trips from Oslo to Bergen. Geir Karlsen reiterated the airline’s goal of cutting emissions by 45 percent by 2030 through fleet renewal, operational efficiency, and the use of sustainable aviation fuels.

On the other hand, Widerøe Airlines recorded 276,413 passengers in March, with the load factor increasing by 6 percentage points to 70 percent. The airline also saw improvements in regularity and punctuality, with a punctuality rate of 89 percent.
